ALERT: READ THIS IF YOU INSTALLED TRINITY BEFORE 4 A.M. GMT
If you have Windows AND upgraded EVE Online: Trinity Classic before 4 A.M. GMT to Premium using the content upgrade path then you MUST read this before doing anything else.
We have removed the faulty updater so anyone installing the Trinity Expansion now will not be effected.
A new updater will be available shortly.
We apologize profusely for this error and are working on offering more extensive help those that have a non-working Windows PC, so please stay tuned.
So basically , if you downloaded and applied the EVE Trinity patch before 4am GMT (I assume CCP have re-released the patch) you lose your boot.ini file
For anyone that doesn’t know the boot.ini file tells the Windows bootloader where and what OS to load.
So basically if you had applied this patch and then rebooted the PC – it won’t boot again without having to do a fix (See here for fix)
That’s one awful mistake to make…a game patch is bad enough if it creates problems in its own “environment” (i.e. the game location) – but to remove one of the most important OS files from the system is madness
I wonder who did the testing for this…I wonder if they are hiding in the loos are this very moment ?

That sounds mysterious doesn’t it but really I have been wondering how some of the latest MMO betas are coming along and how the games, that we are all looking forward to, are REALLY shaping up and not just want the development team’s PR department wants to tell us.
For example you had Vanguard which was all hyped up just prior to release but really was still many months from a finished game but to anyone not in the beta – i.e. on the other side of the “curtain” it looked to be shaping up nicely. Gods and Heroes was another – the hype machine was rolling about 6 months before the game was “Cancelled” but to anyone on the outside it looked like it was about to release or at least very close.
I am personally a little worried ( I worry too much) for some of the latest games that are due to be released in 2008 – I am concerned that most will have further delays and some might not even make it in 2008 or ever !
I am in a beta at the moment and the development team might lead you to believe the game is running nice and smooth and things are coming along very nicely thank you…but in reality the beta testers haven’t been able to test the game in months as the test server has been down and the last client release(released March / April time) was almost unplayable – this game is due for release Q1 2008
I do think this is happening more and more….all hype and not a lot of substance behind the “curtain”. Will Conan and WarHammer be like this ? – we hear that they are delaying these games to improve the game further but is this really that the game is nowhere near a releasable product and that the hype machine has just peaked too early ?
…saying all this LOTRO was a really good beta ( except for the way you logged bugs) and the release was pretty smooth with no real surprised to what we were told we would get…..so it can be done !

Looks like there are some issues with the new World of Warcraft 2.3 patch ( at least in Europe that is).
The Tech Support Forums are alive with issues ranging from low frames per second issues to disconnect issues.
I personally have experienced 2 of the issues-
All this (I think) points to a problem with the config.wtf file and perhaps the wow client cannot access the file and therefore shutdown down.
There is a little workaround which I guessed would fix this – that is to update the config.wtc file yourself (to the realm you want to access) – but its not ideal.
Hopefully in a few days the devs will have a patch for this and the other issues that players are facing.
